Vadacurry is one of the delicious south Indian side dish for Break fast and Dinner. Vadacurry tastes best with hot idli and dosa.
Ingredients
Bengalgram Dal
Onion – 2 nos
Tomato – 1 no
Green Chillies – 3 or 4 nos
Curry Leaves – 6 nos
Coriander Leaves – 3 stems
Cinnamon – 1 Piece
Cloves – 3 nos
Cardamom – 2 nos ( Black / green)
Fennel Seeds – 1/2 Teaspoon
Bay Leaf – 1 no
Cooking oil – 6 Tablespoon
Salt – as required
Black Stone flower (Kal Paasi) – 1 no
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 Teaspoon
Ginger garlic paste – 1 Tablespoon
Garam Masala – 1 Teaspoon
Directions
Take one cup of bengalgram dal and wash it using water twice.
Soak the bengalgram dal in water for 1 hour.
Meantime chop onion, tomato and green chillies and keep them aside.
Add soaked bengalgram dal into a mixer jar and then add fennel seeds and grind them into a batter with semi soild consistency.
Keep dosa tava in stove wait until it heats.
Once tava gets heated, wet the dosa tava with cooking oil. Then take the batter from mixer jar and make it into adai shape (thick round shape) and slightly fry it in on both sides.
Transfer the adai into a plate. Let it cool and then crush the adai using hand into small pieces.
Keep a medium size pan in the stove, add 6 tablespoon of oil in it. Let it heat for one minute, then add cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and bay leaf and then fry them for another one minute.
Add onion into the pan, fry until it turns golden brown colour and then add ginger garlic paste, fry it until its raw smell leaves.
Then add tomato, fry it for 2 minutes. After that add all powder ingredients such as Turmeric powder, Garam masala, Salt as required and mix them well.
Add the adai pieces into the pan, then mix them well and add 200ml of water. Boil the curry for 10 minutes. Switch off the stove.
Finally add chopped coriander leaves into the curry.
Tasty Vada Curry is ready !
Notes
Side dish for Breakfast items like Idli, Dosa etc.
Taste better with Chappathi also.
