Masaal Vadi or Paruppu Vadai is an all time favorite snacks for kids. It is best for evening tea-time snack. Also serves it as side dish for morning breakfast items like Idli, Dosa, Pongal etc.
Ingredients
Bengalgram Dal – 250 gms
Onion – 2 nos
Green chillies 2 nos
Curry leaves – 8 nos
Corriander Leaves – 4 stems
Ginger – 1/2 coin size
Garlic – 4 nos (Splitted)
Salt – as required
Fennel Seeds – 1/2 Teaspoon
Cooking Oil – 1/2 Litre
Directions
Take 250 gms of bengalgram dal, wash it using water twice.
Soak the bengalgram dal in water for 1 hour. Take two tablespoon of soaked bengalgram dal and keep it separately.
Add the bengalgram dal, fennel seeds, garlic, salt and ginger into mixerjar and then grind them coarsely into vada batter consistency. Tranfer batter into a seprate vessel.
Then finely chop Onion, Green chillies, Curry leaves and Corriander leaves.
Add all the chopped ingredients into the vadai batter vessel andmix them well.
Keep a frying pan in stove, add 1/2 lite of oil into it and wait until it gets heated.
Make vadai into medium size and shape using your hand and drop it gently in the heated oil.
Fry the vadai on both sides until it changes to golden brown colour.
Tasty Masaal Vadi is ready.
Notes
Can be served as snack item during evening with coffee or tea.
